MK Guinen...
is a New York based performer and theatrical technician! As a performer, she has specific interest in contemporary works and a love for comedies, though drama holds a place in her heart as well. MK also maintains a long time love for musical theater. She hopes to continue working on both straight plays and musicals throughout her career. She recently has been involved mostly in new works/developmental theater and loves being part of the developmental process! MK is particularly passionate about pieces centered on girlhood and intersectional women's issues and experiences. Some favorite plays of hers are John Proctor is the Villain (Kimberly Belflower), Everybody (Brandon Jacobs Jenkins), Liberation (Bess Whol), and Witch (Jen Silverman). Some favorite musicals include Something Rotten, Merrily We Roll Along, and Falsettos.
When not performing, MK currently works as a full time theatrical technician. She stage manages and works as wardrobe personnel in and around New York City on a freelance basis. MK has experience on both union and non-union productions, as well as experience with large scale productions and immersive theater.
MK has a BA in Drama with minors in Music and Musical Theatre, Cum Laude, from Hofstra University. During her time at Hofstra, she studied acting, music, voice, stage combat, musical theater performance, choreography, and more. She served as a teaching assistant in musical theatre performance and musical theatre choreography. She also worked for all four years of her degree in the University's costume shop, learning various sewing and wardrobe skills. She was a member of the school’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, a national theater honors fraternity, and served as a board member for new member engagement.
